Over 100 people visited Facing our history on October 28, and some 40 stayed to participate in a collective discussion. Here are some of the comments heard:
• Women at literacy class - "We see the women there making an effort to learn how to read, but what do we see in the background? A white Jesus Christ with blond hair and green eyes. This creates a psychosis."
• Boy crying over dead brother - "I see a child who is so young, and on his face is a sadness I can't describe... Can he grow up to have a normal life?"
• Children jammed into classroom - "I see children making an effort to learn, but they are in a really non-pragmatic educational system which is not connected to their reality."
